Prayer

O God, Father of mercies, who placed your people under the singular protection of your Son’s most holy Mother, grant that all who invoke the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, may seek with ever more lively faith the progress of peoples in the ways of justice and of peace. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Prayer

Lord, at times I am in the fold. Other times, I am lost and wandering. But you come and search for me, to bring me close to you. Grant me the grace to see you as you enter into my life each day, so that by your grace I may live in such a way that others may see that I am inspired by you, the Good Shepherd. Amen.

Lord Jesus, open my eyes to recognize the needs of those around me, so that I may respond in love and, in doing so, make you known in their midst.  Amen.

Prayer for the Poor

God of Justice,
open our eyes
to see you in the face of the poor.
Open our ears
to hear you in the cries of the exploited.
Open our mouths
to defend you in the public squares
as well as in private deeds.
Remind us that what we do
to the least ones,
we do to you.

Amen.

Prayer

Our Father,
who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Prayer

Lord, as I prepare for the coming of your Son Jesus at Christmas, help me to see with joy the places where your kingdom has already come. In those places and hearts, even in my own home and my own heart, not yet at peace, by your grace may you enter. Share with us the gifts of the Spirit, wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and strength, through Him who we await this Advent, Christ our Lord. Amen.

God our Father,
as St Francis Xavier travelled to the ends of the earth,
impelled by love of Christ and afire with his good news,
give me the trust and the grace to base all that I do entirely on you,
safe in the knowledge that you raise up the lowly
and fill them with good things.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

St. Ignatius’s First Principle and Foundation says “The goal of our life is to live with God forever. God, who loves us, gave us life. Our own response of love allows God's life to flow into us without limit.” One of the ways in which we respond to the love God has given us is through prayer, not only personal prayer but community prayer as well. The Pastoral Ministry Center invites members of our Strake Jesuit Community to share their prayers with us: their concerns, joys, thanksgivings, so that we may walk with them in all these times of their lives.
