John 15: 9-11

As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.

God’s Lasting Love

“Remain in my love.”  Let that phrase take over for a moment.  Close your eyes, repeat it quietly.  Let it wash over you.

“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.”

All God wants is for us to be happy. Happiness is found in God’s commandments which were summarized by Jesus as this simple command:  “Love God and love your neighbor as yourself.”

Remain in his love.

—Moira and Richard Clark are Catholic high school educators in Cleveland, OH. Rich is President of St. Martin dePorres High School, and Moira is Dean of Student Life & Formation at Magnificat High School.

Prayer

Love consists in sharing what one has and what one is with those one loves.

Please share the Good Word with your friends!

St. Ignatius’s First Principle and Foundation says “The goal of our life is to live with God forever. God, who loves us, gave us life. Our own response of love allows God's life to flow into us without limit.” One of the ways in which we respond to the love God has given us is through prayer, not only personal prayer but community prayer as well. The Pastoral Ministry Center invites members of our Strake Jesuit Community to share their prayers with us: their concerns, joys, thanksgivings, so that we may walk with them in all these times of their lives.
